Explosions were reported in the Haifa area of northern Israel on Saturday after missiles were launched from Iran, according to Israeli outlet Ynet.

Earlier, the Israeli military said air raid sirens sounded across several parts of the country after incoming missiles were detected heading toward Israeli territory.

Israel had earlier launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, code-named “Lion’s Roar,” and declared a “special and immediate” state of emergency nationwide.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed what he described as “major combat operations” in Iran, stating that the actions were aimed at defending the American people by eliminating “imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”

Iranian state television reported that Iranian armed forces were also targeting U.S. military bases in the region, signaling a widening escalation of hostilities across the Middle East.
