Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered an underground Boko Haram logistics storage facility stocked with fuel, medical supplies and other critical materials in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.
The discovery followed coordinated, intelligence-led offensives carried out on Sunday in Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma, where several terrorist enclaves were overrun. During the operations, troops also repelled multiple armed drone attacks launched by the insurgents.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Uba Sani, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to Sani, the operations were conducted under Operation Desert Sanity and led to the destruction of several Boko Haram and ISWAP camps, significantly degrading their logistical and operational capabilities in the axis.
“Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai, have recorded further operational successes in the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity, destroying multiple terrorist camps, recovering arms and equipment, and repelling coordinated attacks by the insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle,” the statement said.
He explained that on Sunday, January 18, 2026, troops advanced from their harbour areas and carried out deliberate, intelligence-driven clearance operations against identified terrorist enclaves in the affected communities.
The operation was supported by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which provided persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance coverage throughout the advance.
“The air-ground synergy enabled real-time tracking of terrorist movements, deterred adversary reinforcement, and enhanced the precision and confidence of ground operations,” Sani said.
During the clearance operations, troops recovered items of military significance, including Baofeng radios, mobile phones, five AK-47 magazines, several rounds of 7.62×39mm special ammunition and 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition.
Other items recovered included Boko Haram and ISWAP flags, links of 12.7×108mm ammunition, diesel-powered grinding machines, large quantities of medical supplies, bags of grains, a pick-up truck, an underground logistics storage facility, and a petroleum, oil and lubricant dump.
Sani noted that the recoveries further weakened the terrorists’ operational and logistical capacity.
He revealed that advancing troops came under armed drone attacks around midday, but maintained momentum and continued the offensive. A second drone attack attempted later in the evening was also decisively repelled, forcing the terrorists to withdraw.
Despite the sustained engagements, Sani said troop morale remains high and fighting efficiency has been maintained.
“The general security situation in the area is assessed as calm but unpredictable, with troops remaining vigilant and at a high state of readiness,” he stated.
He added that the military high command has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the operations until terrorist threats are eliminated, civilians are protected, and lasting peace and stability are restored in the North-East.
